Developer Voltage and Toei Animation are collaborating on a new otome game, Kakan Ruirui: The Caged Lantern of Yomi. The project is slated for a 2027 digital release on the Nintendo Switch and will be distributed via Voltage's AmuLit console brand. The companies categorize the upcoming title as a Japanese-inspired dark fantasy, with confirmed support for both English and Japanese text.
The creative team features illustrator Yone Kazuki, scenario writer Ririka Yoshimura, and background artist Naohiro YΕ«ki. The musical score is being handled by Yamato from Heart Company, while Arika provides the theme song. Direction is shared by Yoshimura and Voltage's Rei Misaki, with production management by Satoshi Nohara, Hiroaki Shibata, and Honoka Kishi.
Promotional activities begin at the Animate Girls Festival 2026 in Ikebukuro, where a teaser video will debut on November 7. Attendees at the event booth will receive promotional materials, and the publisher plans to reveal the main cast at 12:00 p.m. JST on November 7. This release expands the AmuLit library, which currently includes titles such as even if TEMPEST and sins of KALEIDO.
