Veteran voice actor Tom Kane has died at the age of 64, his agency Galactic Productions announced Monday. Kane passed away due to complications from a stroke he suffered in November 2020, which had severely affected his ability to speak and write, leading to his retirement from voice acting.
Kane's extensive career included memorable roles across animation and gaming. He is widely recognized for voicing the villainous HIM and Professor Utonium in the original The Powerpuff Girls animated series, as well as portraying Yoda and the narrator in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. His talents also extended to video games, where he voiced characters such as Magneto in various Marvel titles, Ondore in Final Fantasy XII, and Antourion in Resonance of Fate.
Beyond his character work, Kane was a familiar voice as an announcer for attractions at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. He also lent his voice to the Academy Awards presentations. His contributions left a significant mark on numerous beloved franchises.
