Voice actor Takahiro Fujiwara has passed away at the age of 43. His agency, Ken Production, confirmed the news on Thursday, May 21st, stating that Fujiwara died on May 14th. A private funeral was held for close family members, honoring the family's wishes.
Fujiwara was a recognizable voice in the anime industry, perhaps best known for his portrayal of Kurogiri in My Hero Academia. His extensive resume also includes roles such as Zenzō Inukai in the Laughing Under the Clouds television anime and film series, Jerome Guizbatt in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, and Bol Gil Bol in BASTARD!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-. He was also the original voice of Kan Jou in the Kingdom anime before health reasons led him to step down from the role in August of the previous year.
Beyond anime, Fujiwara lent his voice to numerous video game characters, including Walter Eckhardt in Detective Pikachu, Goro Daimon in The King of Fighters XIV, and Owetu "Jackal" Mabuza in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. His work also extended to international film dubbing, where he voiced characters such as Harry in the Japanese version of Sing and Marshmallow in Frozen. He also provided voices for U.S. animated series like Wander Over Yonder and live-action shows such as CSI.
