Toshiko Machida has wrapped up her supernatural series Hanako-gari (Hanako Hunt), with the final chapter arriving on Kodansha's Magazine Pocket platform on August 27. The manga, which centers on a government organization ostensibly tasked with protecting spirits while secretly disposing of them, debuted on the platform in September 2025.

Readers looking to complete their collections can expect the third and final compiled volume to hit shelves on September 9. This follows the release of the second volume earlier this year in March. The conclusion of this title marks another project wrap for Machida, who also recently finished her series The Demon Consort: "I Love You" Are Frightening Words in April 2025.

While Hanako-gari concludes its run in Japan, Machida's previous work continues to see international movement. Yen Press recently began the English-language release of The Demon Consort, with the first volume shipping on August 25. Given the relatively short run of Hanako-gari, it remains to be seen if the series will receive a similar international licensing announcement.
