The fantasy manga DOGA, created by Toryumon Takeda, is nearing its end. According to an announcement featured in the sixth compiled volume, which hit shelves on July 24, the series will conclude with the release of its seventh volume this coming winter.
Serialized on Futabasha’s Web Action platform since October 2023, the story centers on Yote, a sheltered young lord who is murdered shortly after stepping outside his castle walls. He is resurrected as a cyborg by a mysterious inventor, though his new mechanical body is fragile and temporary. Determined to regain his humanity, Yote embarks on a perilous journey to find legendary mermaids, accompanied by Doga, a street-smart orphan looking to escape their home city of Leoure.
Takeda has been building a notable portfolio in the industry recently. In addition to DOGA, his work includes the manga Badducks, which Alien Books is slated to publish in English this fall. Readers may also recognize his storytelling style from his collection of one-shots, One More Step, Come Stand by My Side, which was released in English by Yen Press in late 2023.
