The September issue of Bessatsu Margaret has confirmed that the romantic comedy series Tonari no Seki no Fukami-kun ga Idol ni Naru Kamo Shirenai (Fukami-kun, the Guy Sitting Next to Me, Might Become an Idol) is approaching its finish line. The manga, a collaboration between writer Haruno Aoyama and artist Haruka Chizu, will publish its final chapter in the magazine’s next installment, arriving September 11.

Serialized since September 2025, the story revolves around a high school student whose passion for idol audition programs leads her to take on a new project: turning her unsuspecting classmate into an idol. The series has maintained a steady release pace, with Shueisha having collected the chapters into two compiled volumes, the most recent of which was released this past July.

Both creators bring prior experience to the project. Aoyama previously penned the six-volume series Boku wa Chiisana Shotenin, while Chizu is known for the four-volume drama Snow Angel, which recently received an English-language release via Viz Media earlier this year.
