The 7th Tokyo Gap-Financing Market (TGFM) has announced its official selection for the 2026 event, highlighting 24 film projects in total. Among the lineup, five animation titles have been selected to participate, giving creators a platform to secure the remaining capital needed to complete their productions. The market, held in conjunction with TIFFCOM and the Tokyo International Film Festival, is scheduled to run from October 28 through October 30.
To qualify for the TGFM, projects must already have at least 60% of their total budget confirmed. This threshold ensures that the selected titles are well into development, allowing the event to focus on bridging the final funding gap through one-on-one consultations with international industry professionals. The first round of pitches is set to begin on the opening day of the event.
Among the Japanese animation entries are Mahora, a project from Ayumi Moriyama and studio OLM, and Princess Zonof, directed by YKBX and produced by P.I.C.S. While these projects represent the current focus on animation, the broader TGFM selection includes a variety of live-action works, such as the upcoming Wild Zero Overdrive from director Tetsuro Takeuchi.
