Tokyo Game Show 2026 wrapped up its four-day run at Makuhari Messe this past weekend, recording a total of 257,642 in-person visitors. While the event aimed to expand into a five-day format for the first time in its history, the arrival of Typhoon Dujuan necessitated the cancellation of the final public day on September 21. Despite the shortened schedule, the event maintained a significant footprint with 1,138 companies and organizations from 53 countries showcasing their latest titles and hardware.

Attendance figures remained steady across the four operational days, with the first public day on September 19 drawing the largest crowd at 78,678 attendees. The business days, held on September 17 and 18, saw a combined turnout of 106,175. While the final attendance count represents a slight decrease from the 263,101 visitors recorded in 2025, the organizers successfully pivoted to provide digital coverage, broadcasting 25 programs across platforms including YouTube, Twitch, and regional services like bilibili and DouYu.

Looking ahead, the event organizers have already confirmed that Tokyo Game Show 2027 is slated to return to Makuhari Messe from September 16 to 20. The team intends to revisit the five-day structure that was disrupted this year. For those affected by the cancellation of the final day, the organization has confirmed that ticket refunds are currently being processed, with plans to stream select stage events that were originally slated for the final day.
