Toaru Anbu no Item, the latest anime installment in the expansive A Certain Magical Index franchise, has unveiled a new trailer and confirmed its premiere date for October 9. The series will broadcast on Tokyo MX.
The trailer showcases the anime's opening theme, "Ghost Sequence," performed by East Of Eden, and the ending theme, "Genshi Kuzushi (Meltdown)," by Kishida Kyōdan & The Akeboshi Rockets. The story focuses on the secret organization ITEM, a group operating on the "dark side" of Academy City, as depicted in Kazuma Kamachi's original novels.
The voice cast includes Ami Koshimizu as Shizuri Mugino, Aya Suzaki as Rikou Takitsubou, Maaya Uchida as Frenda Seivelun, and Chinatsu Akasaki as Saiai Kinuhata. Tatsuyuki Nagai, who previously directed A Certain Scientific Railgun, is helming this project at J.C. Staff. Shigeki Kimoto, chief animation director for previous entries, is handling character designs, with Maiko Iuchi composing the music.
Toaru Anbu no Item is an adaptation of a spinoff novel series that has seen six volumes published. The franchise itself is well-established, with the original A Certain Magical Index light novels spawning multiple anime series and a film, while the A Certain Scientific Railgun spinoff has also received several anime seasons and manga adaptations. A manga version of Toaru Anbu no Item began serialization in fall 2023.
