The production team for the upcoming anime film To You in the Beyond (Doko Yori mo Tooi Basho ni Iru Kimi e) released a set of six character promotional videos on Monday. The clips provide a closer look at the supporting cast, highlighting the classmates and peers surrounding the protagonist, Kazuki Tsukigase.
New cast members revealed alongside the footage include Sumire Uesaka as the honors student Tamaki Mishima, Wataru Hatano as the sincere Shōji Aiba, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Kazuki’s friend Akimitsu Yamu, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as the rival-minded Yoshiki Suga. They join a previously announced ensemble that features Hiiro Ishibashi as Kazuki and Anna Nagase as the mysterious Nao, a girl found near an inlet rumored to be a site of disappearances.
The film is directed by Junichi Wada, known for his work on HIGH CARD, with a screenplay penned by Sayaka Kuwamura. The animation is being produced at TMS Entertainment, with character designs handled by Hechima. While the film is scheduled to hit Japanese screens on October 9, international distribution plans remain pending from Shochiku and Pony Canyon.
Beyond the film, the story continues to expand across media. A manga adaptation by Haruka Chino began serialization on Shueisha’s Tonari no Young Jump platform in August 2025, with its first volume released earlier this year. With the premiere just weeks away, the focus now shifts to whether the film's atmospheric mystery can capture the same resonance as the original 2017 novel.
