A pre-broadcast promotional video for the upcoming Though I Am an Inept Villainess anime has arrived, offering fans a glimpse of the series and its ending theme. The video, available with English, Traditional Chinese, and Korean subtitles, reveals that the ending song is titled 'Shooting Star' (Hōkiboshi) and is performed by the musical artist Rokudenashi. Notably, Eve contributed the lyrics and music for the track.

The anime, based on Satsuki Nakamura's light novel series, is set to premiere on July 12. It will air on TV Tokyo and its affiliates in Japan, with Netflix handling streaming in Asia and Crunchyroll making it available across North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and the Indian Subcontinent. Hulu is also listing the series for a July 12 debut, offering both subtitled and dubbed versions.

Directed by Mitsue Yamazaki at Dōga Kōbō, the series features a voice cast including Manaka Iwami as Kou Reirin and Natsumi Kawaida as Shu Keigetsu. Yoshiko Nakamura is overseeing the series scripts, with character designs by Ai Kikuchi. The anime's premiere was previously delayed to July due to production progress, having been initially slated for an April release.

Seven Seas publishes both the light novels and manga in English, describing the story as a body-swap tale set in a kingdom inspired by historical China. The protagonist, Kou Reirin, finds herself in a dire situation after her body is swapped with her rival, Shu Keigetsu, who aims to steal her position as a potential imperial consort.
