The production team for Though I Am an Inept Villainess has confirmed that the anime will return for its second cour in January 2027. Titled the "The First Royal Outing" arc, this next chapter of the historical fantasy series was revealed alongside a new key visual and the addition of three key cast members to the roster.
Joining the series are Yūichi Nakamura, who will voice Rerien's eldest brother, Keikou, and Shunichi Toki, cast as the second-eldest brother, Keishou. Additionally, Chiaki Kobayashi has been tapped to play Unran, the young leader of a village. These additions expand the ensemble as the story shifts into its next major narrative phase following the initial run that premiered in July 2024.
The series, which adapts Satsuki Nakamura’s light novels, continues to be helmed by director Mitsue Yamazaki at studio Dōga Kōbō, with series composition by Yoshiko Nakamura. While the anime adaptation is moving into its second cour, the source material is also approaching its conclusion; the 13th and final light novel volume is scheduled for release on September 30, 2026.
With the first cour having been available globally via Crunchyroll and Netflix, the announcement of a January 2027 return provides a clear window for the continuation of the body-swap drama. Given the production delays that pushed the initial series premiere from April to July 2024, the announcement of a specific January window suggests a more stable production schedule for the upcoming arc.
