The English dub for the fantasy series Though I Am an Inept Villainess is set to arrive on July 26. Following a production-related delay that pushed the original April release to the summer season, the series will now be available across Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Disney+ starting at 11:45 a.m. EDT.
The English voice cast features Brianna Knickerbocker in the lead role of Kou Reirin, with Rebecca Wang as the scheming Shu Keigetsu. The supporting cast includes Kaiji Tang as Ei Gyoumei, Aleks Le as Shin-u, Lizzie Freeman as Leelee, and Mori Calliope as Kou Tousetsu. The production is helmed by director Mitsue Yamazaki at studio Dōga Kōbō, working from scripts overseen by Yoshiko Nakamura.
Based on Satsuki Nakamura’s light novel series, the story follows a high-stakes body-swap conspiracy within a historical Chinese-inspired imperial court. After the elegant Kou Reirin is displaced from her own body by the cunning Shu Keigetsu, she discovers that her new, more resilient form might actually be the key to surviving the court’s treacherous political landscape. The series features character designs by Ai Kikuchi and a score composed by Yukari Hashimoto, with milet performing the opening theme, "Sunny."
For those following the source material, Seven Seas Entertainment continues to release both the light novels and the manga adaptation in English. The anime's arrival on streaming platforms follows its initial Japanese broadcast on July 12, marking a major addition to this season’s fantasy lineup.
