The Dengeki Bunko Fall Festival Online 2026 revealed that This Is the End Stagnation Committee. (Kochira, Shūmatsu Teitai Iinkai.) is set to receive an anime adaptation. The series, written by Kien Aien and illustrated by Ogipote, follows a group of youths who operate in the shadows to combat a hidden apocalypse. While the world remains largely unaware of the encroaching threats—ranging from creatures beneath Tokyo's Shinobazu Pond to a giant snail atop the Eiffel Tower—these protagonists fight to delay the inevitable as part of their daily routine.
Kadokawa launched the light novel series in July 2025, with the sixth volume arriving just over a year later in July 2026. The franchise has already expanded into other media, with a manga adaptation illustrated by Hiroshi Sakurai beginning serialization on the Shōnen Ace Plus service in April 2024. The second volume of the manga was released simultaneously with the latest light novel installment this past summer.
While the announcement confirms that an anime project is in development, details regarding the animation studio, staff, or a projected release window remain unconfirmed. Given the rapid pace of the light novel's publication and the existing manga serialization, the project adds to a growing list of Kadokawa-backed adaptations originating from the Dengeki Bunko imprint.
