There's No Freaking Way I'll Be Your Lover! Unless... (known as WATANARE) has officially closed the book on its first major arc. Following the final chapter's publication on Shueisha’s Young Jump+ platform on July 31, it was confirmed that the series will continue with a direct sequel.

Artist Eru Kudō is set to helm the second part, titled Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Naijan, Muri Muri! Muri Janakatta!? ~Second Season, which is currently tracking for a launch in early 2027. Fans can expect the 10th compiled volume of the original run to hit shelves this December, with the final volume of the first arc arriving sometime in 2027 to round out the collection.

Based on the light novel series by Teren Mikami, the franchise has seen significant expansion beyond its source material. The story, which follows the chaotic social life of Renako Amaori as she navigates a complex romantic entanglement with fashion model Mai Ouzuka, recently inspired a 12-episode anime adaptation by studio MOTHER that aired in summer 2025. With a 7.7 rating on MyAnimeList from over 37,000 voters, the series has cultivated a dedicated following that continues to drive its multi-platform success, including the recent five-episode TV special that aired earlier this year.
