Fans of the 1986 animated cult classic The Transformers: The Movie have a reason to return to the cinema this fall. Fathom Events and Hasbro have announced a special 4K theatrical re-release of the film, scheduled for September 17β€”coinciding with the brand's annual "Transformers Day." Beyond the high-definition restoration, the event promises a unique draw: a brand-new, never-before-seen cinematic sequence that will play following the film's credits.

This new footage, teased in a trailer recently debuted at San Diego Comic-Con, serves as a fresh addition to the iconic feature that originally pitted Optimus Prime and the Autobots against the planet-consuming threat of Unicron. Produced by Toei Animation, the film remains a cornerstone of the franchise, bridging the gap between the early seasons of the original television series and the broader lore that followed.

While the U.S. and U.K. are the primary focus for the September 17 launch, Hasbro confirmed that screenings will also take place in Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and Germany, with more regions to be announced. Select domestic theaters will also offer exclusive commemorative merchandise, including themed popcorn buckets and drinkware. Tickets for the screenings go on sale August 7.
