Kiki's Delivery Service's newly released 4K restoration has entered the Japanese box office charts at number six. The beloved Studio Ghibli film earned 173,276,300 yen (approximately US$1.07 million) during its opening three days.
Meanwhile, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, from Nintendo, Illumination, and Universal Pictures, slipped one spot to fifth place in its ninth weekend. The animated sequel has accumulated a total of 7,644,406,980 yen (about US$47.27 million) since its release.
Rounding out the notable entries, Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway fell to seventh place in its eleventh weekend, bringing its total earnings to 13,347,406,200 yen (about US$82.55 million). The franchise's 29th film has now achieved over 10 billion yen for four consecutive installments. The live-action Mr. Osomatsu film also saw a decline, dropping to ninth place in its second weekend.
