The Seven Knights of the Marronnier Kingdom is officially heading to the small screen this fall. A new promotional video released today confirms an October 3 premiere, with the series slated to air on NHK Educational starting at 6:25 p.m. JST.
The anime adapts Nao Iwamoto's long-running fantasy manga, which follows seven distinct brothers—each a knight serving as an ambassador to a neighboring territory in search of their fated romantic partners. The newly revealed voice cast includes Kengo Takanashi as the eldest brother Nemukunai, alongside Makoto Tanikawa, Haruki Ishiya, Satoshi Inomata, Kiyoto Mizuno, Taishi Murata, and Reiji Kawashima as his siblings. Akeno Watanabe will voice their mother, Baribara, with Show Hayami serving as the series narrator.
Behind the scenes, the project is helmed by director Kiyoko Sayama at studio J.C. Staff. The production team also features series writer Shinzō Fujita, character designer Yuriko Maeda, and composer Yoshiaki Fujisawa, who brings his experience from Land of the Lustrous to the score. Sound direction is handled by industry veteran Jin Aketagawa.
Since its debut in Shogakukan's Flowers magazine in 2016, the source material has earned significant acclaim, including a top spot on the 2018 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! list for female readers. This adaptation follows the 2023 film release of Iwamoto's other celebrated work, Kingdom of Gold, Kingdom of Water.
