A new anime adaptation of The One Piece is on the horizon, with WIT Studio at the helm and a planned February 2027 debut on Netflix. The upcoming series will kick off with the Eastern Sea Arc, revisiting the manga's earliest adventures. A teaser promotional video was unveiled alongside the announcement at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Reprising her iconic role as Monkey D. Luffy is Mayumi Tanaka, who has voiced the Straw Hat captain since the original anime's inception. The production boasts a talented team, with Masashi Koizuka serving as director and Hideaki Abe as assistant director. Taku Kishimoto is handling series composition, while Kyouji Asano and Takatoshi Honda are credited as chief animation directors and character designers. The staff list also includes key personnel for main animation, art design, ship design, color design, 3DCG, sound direction by Masafumi Mima, and music by Yuuki Hayashi.

The new anime adapts Eiichiro Oda's legendary manga, which has been serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump since 1997. The manga continues to be a massive global success, with its 114th volume released in March and the 115th due in July. VIZ Media is handling the English release, with Volume 112 scheduled for July.
