The first teaser trailer for Netflix's upcoming anime remake of One Piece has been unveiled, confirming that Mayumi Tanaka will return to voice Monkey D. Luffy. The trailer, revealed at the Annecy International Film Festival, also offers glimpses of the Straw Hat crew and other characters from the East Blue Saga. Tanaka has been the voice of Luffy in the original anime series since its 1999 debut.

Produced by Wit Studio, the new series is set to stream worldwide on Netflix in February 2027, with the first season comprising seven episodes. These episodes will cover the initial 50 chapters of Eiichiro Oda's manga, aiming for a tighter narrative pace. Masashi Koizuka is directing the project, with Hideaki Abe serving as assistant director. The staff also includes chief character designers and chief animation directors Kyoji Asano and Takatoshi Honda.

This remake was initially announced at Jump Festa '24, commemorating 25 years of the original anime. The production aims to deliver the same quality seen in Wit Studio's previous works like Attack on Titan and Spy×Family, while still respecting the original anime's legacy. The series is expected to adapt the East Blue Saga, though further details on potential future arcs remain unconfirmed.
