The manga adaptation of Ameku Takao's Detective Karte is drawing to a close. The series, created by writer Mikito Chinen and artist Eri Takenashi, will conclude with its third compiled volume, scheduled for release on July 7.
Launched in Kodansha's Good! Afternoon magazine in September 2024, the manga is based on Chinen's light novel series of the same name. The story follows Dr. Takao Ameku, a doctor who tackles complex medical mysteries at a general hospital's diagnostic department.
The light novels have seen multiple adaptations. A television anime, produced by Project No.9, aired in Winter 2025 and was streamed by Crunchyroll under the title Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective. The series holds a 7.14 score on MyAnimeList from over 37,000 voters. Additionally, a live-action series adaptation premiered in April 2025.
The original light novel series, published between October 2014 and September 2022, has surpassed 3 million copies in circulation. Another manga adaptation by Hiroki Ohara previously ran in Monthly Comic @Bunch from 2016 to 2018.
