The production team behind The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan has expanded its cast, announcing that Yui Ogura will voice the character Loki Leevahl. Loki is introduced as a high-ranking Magicmaster who joins the magical institute as a partner to the protagonist, Alus Reigin. Alongside the casting news, the studio released a character visual showcasing Loki’s design.
This adaptation of Izushiro and Ruria Miyuki’s light novel series is currently in development at studio HOTLINE, with Yūsuke Suzuki serving as director. The project features series composition by Gigaemon Ichikawa and character designs by Yūki Kitajima. The story centers on Alus, a 16-year-old prodigy and the nation's top Magicmaster, who attempts to trade his military life for a secret identity as an instructor at a special magic academy.
While the anime is set to premiere in 2027, the franchise is expanding its footprint ahead of the release. A prequel manga titled The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan Zero -The Secret History of the Beginning- is slated for a winter launch, promising to bridge the gap between Alus' military service and his eventual enrollment in the institute.
The series has seen several iterations since its debut on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2015, including two previous manga adaptations. With the light novels reaching their 20th volume as of late 2025, the anime serves as the latest expansion for a franchise that has already established a significant footprint in both digital and print markets.
