A television anime adaptation of Izushiro and Ruria Miyuki's The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan light novel series is in production, with a planned 2027 premiere. The announcement arrived with a teaser promotional video and visual, alongside the reveal of the lead cast and key staff.

Yūto Uemura will star as Alus Reigin, the series' young prodigy magicmaster who, despite his achievements, seeks retirement. The anime is being directed by Yūsuke Suzuki at studio HOTLINE, with series scripts by Gigaemon Ichikawa and character designs by Yūki Kitajima. Takatoshi Hamano is handling sound direction.

To coincide with the anime announcement, a prequel manga titled The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan Zero -The Secret History of the Beginning- will launch this winter. This new manga, also illustrated by Karu Yoneshiro, will explore Alus's life before magic academy and connect to the main narrative.

The Greatest Magicmaster's Retirement Plan follows Alus, who at 16 years old has defeated more Fiends and reclaimed more territory than anyone else. Despite being the nation's No. 1 Magicmaster, he ends up enrolled in a special magic institute, secretly training successors and continuing to fight Fiends.
