The journey of the war-hero-turned-territory-manager is nearing its end. According to a listing for the 16th volume of The Frontier Lord Begins with Zero Subjects (Ryōmin 0-nin Start no Henkyō Ryōshu-sama), the light novel series is officially entering its final story arc. The volume is scheduled for release on September 16.

Written by Fuurou with illustrations by Kinta, the series has become a staple of the "slow-life" fantasy subgenre since its initial serialization on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2018. The narrative follows Dias, a veteran soldier who is granted a desolate, empty domain as a reward for his decades of service. With the help of a horned girl named Alna, he works to transform the barren landscape into a thriving territory, a premise that has resonated with readers enough to push the franchise past the two-million-copy circulation milestone.

This announcement arrives alongside the series' recent expansion into animation. The television adaptation, produced by Studio42 and INSPION Edge, premiered earlier this month on July 3 via Prime Video in Japan, followed by a standard television broadcast on July 10. International viewers can follow Dias’s agricultural management efforts through Crunchyroll, which currently streams the series.

While the source material reaches its climax, the franchise remains active through its various adaptations. In addition to the light novels, the property includes multiple manga iterations, such as Ao no Dias to Soukaku no Otome, which continue to flesh out the world-building for fans of the original fantasy premise.
