The second season of The Fable is officially set to hit screens on January 9, 2026, with an NTV broadcast beginning at 12:55 a.m. JST. Alongside the premiere date, the production team unveiled a new key visual and introduced six additional cast members joining the ensemble. Among the new additions are Kōichi Yamadera, who will voice the character Yamaoka, and Takanori Hoshino, cast as Azami.
Tezuka Productions is once again spearheading the adaptation, with director Ryōsuke Takahashi returning to lead the project. The core creative team remains largely intact, featuring series composition by Yūya Takashima and character designs by Kyūma Ōshita and Saki Hasegawa. While much of the staff is returning, the production has brought on Yo Tsuji to handle the music for this new installment.
The series, which follows the life of a legendary hitman forced into a mundane existence, continues to maintain a strong presence on streaming platforms, with Disney+ and Hulu serving as the primary outlets for international viewers. The first season, which aired for two continuous cours starting in April 2024, established a solid foundation for the adaptation of Katsuhisa Minami’s award-winning manga.
With the manga franchise having expanded significantly—including the completion of The Fable: The Second Contact and the recent launch of The Fable: The third secret—this second season arrives as the source material continues to evolve. Given the transition to a new composer, it remains to be seen how the show's auditory atmosphere will shift as the narrative moves into its next major arc.
