The upcoming second season of The Detective Is Already Dead anime has released its second promotional video, offering a fresh look at the returning cast and revealing the artists behind its theme songs. The anime, produced by ENGI, is now slated for an October 2026 premiere after a previous July release window.
The new promo video showcases new character designs for the main cast, including Arata Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka, Saki Miyashita as Siesta, Ayana Taketatsu as Nagisa Natsunagi, Kanon Takao as Yui Saikawa, and Saho Shirasu as Charlotte Arisaka Anderson. The music for the season is handled by 40mP, who is composing, arranging, and writing lyrics for both the opening and ending themes. Kōme will perform the opening track, titled "Kono Shinzō ni Hanabata wo," while Kagura Nana returns to sing the ending theme, "Hakuchumu."
Manabu Kurihara is back to direct the second season, with Deko Akao returning as series script supervisor and Yōsuke Itō handling character designs. The first season of the mystery-comedy anime premiered in July 2021 and ran for 12 episodes, adapting the light novel series by Nigojū and Umibōzu. Yen Press publishes the original novels in English, noting the series' win of the 15th MF Bunko J newcomer award.
