The Demons Are Planning Something Good (Ma no Mono-tachi wa Kuwadateru), the comedy manga by akuji Katō, is slated for a 2027 television debut. The announcement comes with the reveal of the main cast and additional staff members, alongside a new visual.
Leading the cast is Junichi Suwabe as Lord Mercy-Snare, joined by Wakana Kuramochi as Letze and Haruka Shiraishi as Melisha. The anime is being produced by TNK, with Takuya Asaoka directing. Kazuyuki Fudeyasu is overseeing the series composition, and Hiraku Kaneko is designing the characters. The manga, which began serialization in March 2023 on Kadokawa's DraDra Sharp# web manga service, is published in English by Yen Press.
Yen Press describes the story as focusing on the often-underappreciated research and development required to maintain an effective evil army. The narrative follows the Demon Lord's underlings as they devise innovative methods to challenge adventurers, from clothing-melting slime to tentacle-based torment.
Katō originally started posting the manga on X (formerly Twitter) in 2022. Kadokawa will release the manga's fourth compiled volume on July 9. Katō is also known for other works, including the Mechanical Buddy Universe 1.0 manga and a manga adaptation of the Knight's & Magic novel series, which also received an anime adaptation in 2017.
