The Cat and the Dragon anime unveiled its second promotional video and a new key visual, confirming additional cast members and the premiere date for June 27. The video also previews the opening and ending theme songs for the series.
Joining the cast are Hinata Tadokoro as Greater Daemon, Yōji Ueda as Monsha-Mosha IV, Saho Shirasu as Mike-Mike, Natsuki Hanae as Monaruka (Black), and Tomohisa Asō as Pomupora. The opening theme, "Nekohi" (Cat Day), is performed by suis from the band yorushika, while the ending theme, "Tadaima no Basho" (A Place to Call Home), is by lia's band shallm.
The series will first stream on d Anime Store and ABEMA in Japan on June 27 at 9:30 p.m. JST. This precedes the television broadcast and wider streaming availability, which begins July 4 on Tokyo MX. The anime is based on Amara's novels, which have sold over 1.4 million copies, and follows a dragon raised by a mother cat who becomes known as the "cat dragon" among humans.
The anime stars Takehito Koyasu as Nekoryū and Kikuko Inoue as Mama-nyan, among others. The production is helmed by director Jin-Koo Oh at OLM, with series scripts by Mitsutaka Hirota and character designs by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu. Takahiro Obata is composing the music.
