The Apothecary Diaries (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) will return for its third season on October 2, as revealed during a recent special event. The series will retain its home in the "Friday Anime Night" programming block on NTV, maintaining a two-cour broadcast schedule that will see the second half of the season arrive in April 2027. A newly released trailer provides a first look at the upcoming drama, featuring the season's opening theme, "Kumo o Nukekazashimo e Watashidake," by the duo Yorushika.
The production also confirmed a new addition to the voice cast: Reina Ueda will portray Bai Niangniang, a mysterious character described as a pale nymph. These developments arrive as the franchise prepares for a major expansion beyond the television series. In addition to the third season, the franchise will release an original feature film titled The Apothecary Diaries: The Deceased Empress' Treasure on December 11, featuring an exclusive story written by original light novel author Natsu Hyūga.
Since its 2023 television debut, the series has cemented its place as a standout in the historical mystery genre. By blending medical procedural elements with the complex political landscape of an ancient Chinese-inspired imperial court, the show has become a significant hit.
