Broadcasting studio MBC has pulled back the curtain on its live-action adaptation of A Bona Fide Killer with the release of two high-stakes teaser trailers. The footage highlights the stark contrast between the protagonist’s professional life as a lethal sniper and her domestic struggles as a mother and daughter-in-law, setting the stage for the series' July 31 premiere.
Hyo-jin Gong takes on the lead role of Bona Yoo, a legendary assassin known as "Kingfisher." The narrative follows her attempt to juggle high-profile hits with the mundane pressures of family life. Complicating matters, her husband, Taesung Kwon (played by Joon-won Jung), is a journalist unknowingly tasked with investigating the very vigilante killings his wife is committing. Meanwhile, detective Dongjin Lee, portrayed by Sang-yi Lee, begins to tighten the net around the killer, unaware of his personal connection to the target.
Adapted from the webtoon by GUM and YOON, which has been running on Kakao since 2022, the series explores the tension that arises as the boundaries between Bona's two worlds begin to collapse. The source material, available in English via Tapas, concluded its third season last September and is scheduled to resume with its fourth season on July 27, just days before the live-action series makes its broadcast debut.
