Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) Holdings' animation subsidiary, Sand B, has acquired a controlling 51% stake in the 3D CG anime studio Xenotoon. This move establishes Xenotoon as a subsidiary of Sand B, with plans for a future merger with TBS' existing anime production arm, Seven Arcs, slated for mid-2027.

Xenotoon, founded in December 2019, is recognized for its work with director Genshō Yasuda, known for his CG shorts and his directorial debut feature, Make a Girl, which premiered in January 2025. The studio also collaborated on the 3D short Moana to Densetsu no Umi 2 and was involved in the formation of the U.S.-based "Studio Azuki" in July 2025 with the Web3 anime brand Azuki.

The acquisition deepens TBS's investment in animation production. Sand B was established in May 2025 with a substantial 30 billion yen investment, aiming to bolster animation planning, development, and global expansion. Seven Arcs, acquired by TBS in December 2017, is renowned for the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha franchise and is currently producing its latest installment, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha EXCEEDS Gun Blaze Vengeance.
