The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has unveiled its 2026 International Emmy Award nominees, highlighting two notable Japanese productions. The anthology series Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26, which adapts the creator's short manga stories, secured a nomination in the Short-Form Series category. Meanwhile, the stop-motion series My Melody & Kuromi received a nod in the Kids: Animation category.

Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 consists of eight episodes released in two parts, featuring distinct narratives such as Sasaki Stopped a Bullet and Nayuta of the Prophecy. The project saw a limited theatrical run in Japan and South Korea following its 2025 premiere. Its source material, published by Shueisha and licensed by Viz Media, has previously garnered attention at the Bucheon International Animation Festival.

My Melody & Kuromi, which debuted on Netflix in July 2025, is a stop-motion production directed by Tomoki Misato at TORUKU and WIT STUDIO. The series has already established a strong track record on the awards circuit, having secured the Best Animation award at the 2025 Asian Academy Creative Awards in Singapore. The final winners for the International Emmys will be revealed during a ceremony in New York City on November 23.
