The development team behind Tasokare Hotel -Tsubomi- announced that the smartphone adventure game will shut down its servers on November 30. While players will retain the ability to open the application after this date, all interactive game content will become inaccessible. The developer has already halted the sale of in-game currency and is currently processing refund requests for players with remaining balances.

Launched in March 2025, Tsubomi served as a direct sequel to the original Tasokare Hotel mystery series, introducing a new protagonist and a revamped gameplay engine. The franchise has maintained a consistent presence in the mobile market since the original title debuted in 2017, eventually spawning a 2022 remake titled Tasokare Hotel Re:newal and a Steam release in 2024.

The broader franchise saw significant expansion earlier this year with the premiere of a television anime adaptation in January 2025. The series, which follows Neko Tsukahara as she navigates a mysterious hotel existing between life and death, reached a wide international audience through platforms including Prime Video, Tubi, and the It's Anime YouTube channel. Beyond the games and anime, the property has also been adapted into a stage play and a webtoon.

Why it matters: The closure of Tsubomi arrives less than a year after its launch, raising questions about the future of the series' narrative expansions. With the original Tasokare Hotel having surpassed 1.1 million downloads, it remains to be seen if the developer will pivot back to the core title or focus on new intellectual properties.
