The haunting, emotional narrative of Takopi's Original Sin is heading to theaters this fall. A newly released special video confirms that the compilation film, officially titled Takopii no Genzai -Arigatō, Mata Ashita- (Takopi's Original Sin: Thank You, See You Tomorrow), will premiere in Japan on November 27.

This film project follows the success of the six-episode television anime, which originally launched on streaming platforms including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video in June 2025. The series, which garnered critical acclaim and won the Jury Award at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, features a star-studded voice cast led by Kurumi Mamiya as the titular alien Takopi and Reina Ueda as Shizuka Kuze.

Behind the scenes, the production brings back director Shinya Iino, known for his work on Dr. Stone, alongside character designer Keita Nagahara. The story, adapted from Taizan 5’s award-winning manga, explores the dark, complex relationship between an alien visitor and a troubled elementary school student. With the original manga receiving multiple nominations for the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes and the Manga Taisho Awards, the transition to a feature-length format is set to highlight the emotional core of this intense drama.
