Bandai Namco Entertainment America has unveiled a demo trailer for Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad, an upcoming action RPG set within Reki Kawahara's popular franchise. The demo, available starting today, offers players a glimpse into the game with five missions and a showcase of its diverse weapon types. The trailer was posted Monday.

The game immerses players in the iconic Aincrad world, the setting of the original virtual MMO Sword Art Online. As one of the 10,000 players trapped in the death game, players will navigate the world and interact with familiar characters like Kirito and Asuna. The theme song, "Live to Survive," is performed by Aimer.

Sword Art Online: Echoes of Aincrad is slated for release on July 9 in Japan for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with a PC release via Steam following on July 10. The game will launch simultaneously across all platforms worldwide on July 10. Multiple editions will be available, including Standard, Deluxe, Ultimate, and a Bandai Namco Store exclusive Aincrad Edition, offering various bonus content and early access to the "Death Game" mode.

The original Sword Art Online web novel by Reki Kawahara began in 2001, leading to a vast multimedia franchise that includes multiple anime seasons, films, and spin-off series. The Sword Art Online: Progressive novels, which explore the Aincrad arc in greater detail, have also inspired two anime films.
