Suikoden: The Anime, the new adaptation based on the narrative of Konami’s iconic RPG Suikoden II, is expanding its reach beyond Japanese television. The production committee announced that the series will be available to stream for free on YouTube with English subtitles, with the rollout beginning October 6 and subsequent episodes arriving every Tuesday.
The distribution covers a wide range of territories, including North America, Latin America, the Caribbean, New Zealand, Australia, and select regions across Africa and the Middle East. While the YouTube channel serves as the primary hub for these regions, the series has also been licensed by Ani-One Asia, ensuring broader accessibility for the franchise's long-standing fanbase.
Directed by YUZO at the newly established KONAMI animation studio, the series adapts the high-stakes political drama of the Unicorn Youth Brigade and the Highland Kingdom. The production features a massive voice cast, including Toshiki Kumagai as the protagonist Riliu and Shimba Tsuchiya as Jowy, supported by industry veterans like Katsuyuki Konishi and Yūichi Nakamura. The scripts are overseen by Michihiro Tsuchiya, with character designs by Ryō Yamauchi.
This anime project arrives shortly after the 2025 launch of the Suikoden I&II HD Remaster, which brought the original PlayStation titles to modern consoles and PC. With the franchise also expanding into mobile titles like Gensō Suikoden: Star Leap, the anime serves as a centerpiece for Konami's current efforts to revitalize the series for a new generation of players.
