The upcoming anime adaptation of Konami's Suikoden II, titled Suikoden: The Anime, has revealed more of its cast and its opening theme song through a second promotional video released Sunday. The video confirms that the band amazarashi will perform the opening track "Kanashimi Sae Otonabite." The staff also presented this new footage at Anime Expo on Saturday.
New additions to the voice cast include Jin Yamanoi as Agares Blight, the King of the Highland Kingdom and father to Luca and Jillia. Miyuki Sawashiro steps in as Anabelle, the Mayor of Muse City and chair of the Jowston Alliance, with Kōdai Sakai voicing Jess, Anabelle's deputy mayor. These new characters join a previously announced roster featuring Toshiki Kumagai as Riliu and Shimba Tsuchiya as Jowy, among others.
Beyond the cast and music, Suikoden: The Anime is set to premiere in October. Prior to its broadcast on networks like Tokyo MX, Kansai TV, and BS Asahi, the first three episodes will receive a limited theatrical run in 10 Japanese cinemas starting August 21. Furthermore, a manga adaptation by Kochiya is slated to debut in volume 155 of Comic Dengeki DaiohG on July 27, expanding the franchise's reach.
The anime is directed by Yūzo Satō at KONAMI animation, with series scripts overseen by Michihiro Tsuchiya. The original game, released in 1995, spawned a sequel in 1998, with the series having multiple main installments and spin-offs. This anime adaptation follows the story of Suikoden II, which chronicles a border dispute between the Highland Kingdom and the City-States of Jowstown.
