Studio Ghibli is set to undergo a leadership change, with Kenichi Yoda slated to become the animation studio's new president. The appointment is scheduled to take place at the end of the company's shareholders' meeting on June 22. Yoda, who currently sits on Ghibli's board of directors, will succeed Hiroyuki Fukuda.

Fukuda, who also holds executive positions at Nippon Television Holdings (NTV), Ghibli's largest shareholder since 2023, will step down as president but will continue his role as a director on the Ghibli board. Yoda has been actively involved with Ghibli as NTV's representative and has experience in event management within the NTV group.

The updated board of directors will feature prominent figures including co-founder Toshio Suzuki as chair, Hayao Miyazaki as chair emeritus, and Goro Miyazaki. Kenichi Yoda joined Ghibli's board in October 2023 after a career at The Yomiuri Shimbun and NTV. This transition marks a new chapter for the storied animation house, though key creative and production figures remain in place.
