Ryu ga Gotoku Studio, known for the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, has officially revealed key details for its upcoming title, Stranger Than Heaven. A new trailer and presentation showcase the game's narrative, gameplay, and main voice cast, confirming a winter launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. The game will also be available on Game Pass.
The story of Stranger Than Heaven will span 50 years and explore various historical settings across Japan, including Kokura in 1915, Kure in 1929, Osaka in 1943, Atami in 1951, and the familiar Kamurocho in 1965. Players will follow Makoto Daito, a young man of mixed heritage facing persecution who embarks on a journey to Japan after losing his parents, only to find his life irrevocably changed.
The game boasts an impressive cast, featuring YÅ« Shirota as Makoto Daito, alongside international stars Snoop Dogg as Orpheus and Tori Kelly as Suzy Day. Moeka Hoshi voices Tae Matsumoto, and Akio ÅŒtsuka lends his voice to Heigo Yashima. Other cast members include Tokuma Nishioka, Satoshi Fujihara, Cordell Broadus, Ado, and Takashi Ukaji providing the voice for Genzo Iwaki, a character whose CG design is based on the late actor Bunta Sugawara with formal consent from his family and materials from Toei Company.
Adding to the star power, Snoop Dogg, Ado, Tori Kelly, and Satoshi Fujihara will perform the game's theme song, also titled "Stranger Than Heaven." This announcement follows Ryu ga Gotoku Studio's recent releases, including the Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties compilation and the upcoming Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
