Steins;Gate Re:Boot, the upcoming title from MAGES., will arrive on August 20 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The game's official website confirmed the release date, following an initial 2025 announcement that was later delayed.
MAGES. has also shared the game's opening cinematic via their YouTube channel. A separate video highlights the use of M2's E-Mote animation system, which enhances 2D character illustrations with detailed expressions and animations, a system previously seen in other visual novels. The game will feature text support for Japanese, English, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese, with Japanese audio only.
Character designs have been updated by original designer huke, featuring new outfits and accessories. The game's backgrounds depict the Akihabara of 2010, and MAGES. has incorporated new locations and event stills, all supervised by huke, expanding beyond the original game's scope. This reimagining comes as the Steins;Gate franchise celebrated its 15th anniversary in October 2024, with a special movie proclaiming that the series will continue.
The original Steins;Gate game debuted in 2009 as part of MAGES.' Science Adventure Series. It spawned a popular 2011 anime adaptation, a 2013 film sequel, and the 2018 alternate story anime Steins;Gate 0, alongside numerous spin-off games and manga. A live-action Hollywood TV adaptation was also announced in 2020.
