A new trailer unveiled at Anime Expo confirms that Star Wars: Visions Presents - The Ninth Jedi, an expansion of the short from the anthology, will debut on August 5. The limited series will be available on both Disney+ and Hulu.
The trailer premiere followed the first episode's screening in Japanese with English subtitles during the panel. This new series marks the first time a story from the Star Wars: Visions anthology is being expanded into a longer narrative format under the Star Wars: Visions Presents banner. Kenji Kamiyama, who was involved with the original 'The Ninth Jedi' short, returns as supervising director and series script supervisor. Shunsuke Tada is directing, with Hitoshi ItΕ producing.
Star Wars: Visions originally premiered in September 2021 with shorts from Japanese animation studios. Subsequent volumes have broadened the scope, with Volume 2 featuring global animation talent and Volume 3 continuing storylines from the first volume, including the short that inspired this new series, 'The Ninth Jedi: Child of Hope.'
