Square Enix utilized the latest Nintendo Direct to provide a major update on the future of the Final Fantasy VII project. The studio unveiled a new trailer for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the conclusion to the current remake trilogy. The footage offers a glimpse at the game's tone and features a prominent appearance by Sephiroth, confirming the title's multi-platform launch on April 8 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
In addition to the trilogy finale, Square Enix announced that Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion is now available on the Nintendo Switch 2. The remaster, which originally arrived on other platforms in late 2025, brings the prequel story to the new hardware. Notably, the publisher confirmed that there is no upgrade path or save data transfer available for players transitioning from the original Nintendo Switch version to the new console.
This announcement continues the rapid expansion of the franchise across current hardware. While the original Final Fantasy VII Remake spent its first year as a PlayStation exclusive, the series has since seen a broad multi-platform rollout.
