The celebrated stage adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away is embarking on a global tour spanning from late 2026 through 2028. The production will visit major cities including Taipei, Tokyo, Toronto, Los Angeles, and London.
Initial dates reveal performances in Taipei from December 16, 2026, to January 31, 2027, followed by Tokyo from March to May 2027. North American audiences can catch the play in Toronto from May 6 to August 15, 2027, and in Los Angeles from September 2 to October 24, 2027. The tour will then move to London in March 2028, with further dates to be announced.
Helmed by Tony and Olivier Award-winning director John Caird, who also co-adapts the script with Maoko Imai, the production has garnered significant acclaim. The play previously ran at London's Coliseum from April to August 2024, where it secured the Best New Play award at the 25th Annual WhatsOnStage Awards in 2025.
This international expansion follows successful runs in Japan, which saw two distinct casts perform across multiple cities. Recorded versions of these performances, featuring both cast configurations, were also screened theatrically in North America by GKIDS in 2023. The original film Spirited Away remains an Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature and was once the highest-grossing Japanese film worldwide.
