Spike Chunsoft announced at Anime Expo that Steins;Gate: Octet of Shifting Space, an adaptation of the original 2011 graphic adventure game, will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. This marks the first time the game will be available on consoles and Steam, featuring a unique text parser gameplay style reminiscent of 1980s adventure games. Players will input English commands freely to advance the narrative, utilizing their deduction skills to progress.
The game boasts a distinct retro aesthetic, recreating 8-color digital RGB graphics inspired by monochrome monitors and replicating FM synthesis and PSG sound chips. Composer Takeshi Abo is returning to handle the music. Additionally, Spike Chunsoft revealed that Steins;Gate Re:Boot will receive a Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes the game, a digital visual book, the soundtrack, and footage from the βSTEINS;GATE 15th LIVE - ONE WORLD -β event with English subtitles.
Steins;Gate Re:Boot itself will feature a new story route titled "Gamma Worldline." This route places protagonist Rintaro Okabe in a world where the time machine was never completed and D-Mails don't exist, forcing him to grapple with unfamiliar circumstances and estranged lab members. The game's visuals have been updated with character redesigns by huke, and new background locations have been added.
Steins;Gate Re:Boot is set for a digital release in North America and Europe for Xbox Series X|S and PC on August 20, followed by Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5 on October 29. Japan will see a release on August 20 for PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with text available in Japanese, English, and Chinese, and Japanese audio only. Both standard and Steelbook editions will be available physically, with the Steelbook featuring new cover art by huke.
