The journey of Kraft Lawrence and Holo continues, as Kadokawa announced during the Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten Online 2026 livestream that the second season of Spice & Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf is officially slated for a 2027 release. Alongside the announcement, a new teaser trailer provided a first look at the upcoming season, while the production team confirmed that Romi Park will be joining the cast to voice the character Eve Bolan.
Studio Passione is returning to helm the production. Nobuyoshi Nagayama and Takahiro Majima are set to direct, with chief director Takeo Takahashi returning to oversee the project. The core creative team remains largely intact, featuring character designers Koji Haneda and Rina Sugimoto, alongside composer Kevin Penkin, who is back to score the series. The staff list also includes color designer Tomoko Koyama, art director Kazuhiro Inoue, and director of photography Yuki Okada.
This new series serves as a modern adaptation of Isuna Hasekuraβs long-running light novel series, which first began in 2006. The 2024 reboot successfully reintroduced the franchise to a new generation, maintaining a strong presence on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll, where the first season's two-cour run was available with both subtitles and an English dub.
With the addition of Eve Bolan to the cast, the narrative scope of the second season appears to be expanding significantly. Given the character's pivotal role in the source material's later arcs, it will be interesting to see how the production balances the established chemistry between Lawrence and Holo with these new, complex character dynamics.
