Spice & Wolf: merchant meets the wise wolf is officially set to continue its journey, with the production committee announcing a second season scheduled for 2027. The news arrived alongside a new teaser visual, confirming that the series will maintain its current creative momentum following the conclusion of its successful 25-episode run in 2024.

Studio Passione remains at the helm for the upcoming season. The production sees the return of several key staff members, including chief director Takeo Takahashi, who brings continuity from the first season, and composer Kevin Penkin, whose score defined the atmosphere of the new adaptation. Nobuyoshi Nagayama and Takahiro Majima are set to direct, with Koji Haneda and Rina Sugimoto returning to oversee character design.

The 2024 series, which is currently available on Crunchyroll, holds a strong standing among viewers, with an 8.12 score on MyAnimeList as of April 2026 and an 81/100 rating on Kitsu. While the first season adapted the early encounters of Kraft Lawrence and the wolf deity Holo, the franchise continues to expand its footprint, with the original light novel series by Isuna Hasekura reaching its 25th volume this October.

With the 2027 window confirmed, the production now faces the challenge of maintaining the series' distinct blend of economic drama and character-driven fantasy. Given the two-cour length of the first season, do you expect the second season to follow a similar extended broadcast format?
