Directed by Minoru Ōta, this marks his directorial debut. The series will air Sundays at 11:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX and 11:30 p.m. on BS11, with additional broadcasts on ABC TV and TV Aichi. Netflix will stream the series globally starting July 5 at 11:00 p.m. JST. Sparks of Tomorrow is based on the novel that received an honorable mention at the 8th Kyoto Animation Awards in 2017. The story is set in the summer of 1907 and follows 15-year-old Inako Momokawa, whose life takes a turn when she meets the spirited Kihachi Sakamoto. Their quest to find a unique book about electricity, written by Kihachi in his childhood, becomes central to preventing Inako's arranged marriage.
