Soukou Kihei Votoms: Haiiro no Hexe (Armored Trooper Votoms: Die Graue Hexe) has rounded out its production roster, confirming a massive supporting cast and a specialized technical team. The project, which is set to arrive as a two-part theatrical event, will kick off its first installment on November 20.
The newly announced cast features a heavy-hitting lineup of industry veterans, including Shinichiro Miki as Alix Ballack, Yuuki Kaji as Ignis Schweinsteiger, and Yuuichi Nakamura as Fritz Gersdorf. They are joined by Tomokazu Sugita, Daisuke Ono, and Sumire Uesaka, among others. On the production side, the mechanical design team is bolstered by Kunio Okawara, Shinobu Tsuneki, and Yoshihiro Sono, while Katsuya Terada handles costume design.
Directed by Mamoru Oshii at Sunrise, the film series continues the legacy of the long-running mecha franchise that began with the original 1983 television series. The production also reunites key creative talent, with Kenji Kawai returning to compose the score and a script penned by Oshii and Kei Yamamura. This release marks the latest entry in a storied franchise that has seen numerous OVA series and spin-offs, including Pailsen Files and Brilliantly Shining Heresy, over the last four decades.
With such a deep bench of veteran voice actors and mechanical design specialists attached, the production appears to be leaning heavily into the franchise's gritty, technical roots. It remains to be seen how the two-part structure will pace the narrative compared to the episodic nature of the classic OVAs.
