Sony Pictures has officially announced an animated film adaptation of FromSoftware's acclaimed action RPG, Bloodborne. The project, revealed at CinemaCon, will be R-rated and is being developed by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and prominent YouTuber Seán McLoughlin, also known as jacksepticeye. Lyrical Media, the parent company of Lyrical Animation, will co-finance the film.
Set in the dark gothic city of Yharnam, Bloodborne plunges players into a world where a mysterious plague has transformed its inhabitants into terrifying beasts. Players take on the role of a Hunter, tasked with eradicating these creatures while unraveling the unsettling truths behind the city's downfall and confronting otherworldly forces that threaten sanity.
FromSoftware originally developed Bloodborne, which was released for the PlayStation 4 in March 2015. This marks another significant expansion of FromSoftware's properties into other media, following earlier announcements of a Sekiro anime and a live-action film adaptation of Elden Ring.
