The anime adaptation of Yuhiro Tsujitsugu's Snowball Earth manga is officially set to continue with a second season. The announcement arrived Friday alongside the release of a new trailer, posted on the series' official X/Twitter account.
The first season, which premiered on NTV on April 3 and has been streaming on Hulu, wrapped up its 13-episode run on the same day the renewal was revealed. Studio KAI handled the animation for the first season under director Munehisa Sakai, known for his work on Zombie Land Saga.
Snowball Earth is set in 2025, following pilot Tetsuo Yabusame and the giant robot Yukio as they fight an alien invasion. Though they lose the final battle, Tetsuo survives and awakens eight years later in a frozen, ruined Earth. The series explores the mystery of the planet's transformation and Tetsuo's struggle to fulfill a promise.
Key staff returning for the second season include Munehisa Sakai as director, Takeshi Iwata as assistant director, Shigeru Murakoshi for series scripts, and Toshiya Kลno for character design and chief animation direction. TOHO animation is producing the series.
